THE SHARPIST MAIL ORDER FORM

  • Ship to this address:

The Sharpist LLC

1275 Trenton Street

  • Feel free to include a return shipping label if you'd prefer. Some of our customers, particularly those at larger medical facilities, find they are able to secure better corporate shipping rates than we, as a small firm, can. Whether or not to include a return-shipping label with your order is entirely up to you.

  • Please do not have the carrier require a signature for delivery.

The Sharpist secure mailbox

  • We will return-ship with the same priority with which an order was shipped to us. Put another way, if you overnight your order to us, we will overnight it back. If you choose to ship Standard Ground, we will also use Standard Ground.

  • Turnaround on our end is 2-3 business days. This means completed orders ship 2-3 business days from the day we receive them.

  • When your completed order ships, we will email you a tracking number and a Net 30 invoice payable online with a card.  Invoices arrive via Square Invoicing.

PRICING

Medical sharpening service includes sharpening, alignment, and tension adjustment (if applicable).  The reason we provide price ranges here is because we cannot finalize pricing until we see instruments at our work bench, under magnification.

Pricing Overview:

  • Mobile calls only: 30 item minimum, please, and in addition to the per item charges, there will be an $85 mobile service fee per call. No other hidden fees.

  • Mail orders only: no minimum order size. Customer pays only per-item sharpening costs, and shipping both ways.

  • At a glance: handheld surgical instruments are $6-$25 apiece depending on their type and condition, with the vast majority falling in the $6-$12 apiece range.

More specifically:

  • Biopsy forceps - $25 each

  • Biopsy punch set  - $25 and up

  • Clipper blades - $11 each, and only as part of a larger order of surgical instruments, please.
  • A note on clipper blades: we offer this service as an extension of our surgical instrument sharpening service. Our workshop is optimized to handle the clipper blades most commonly used in surgical settings. As such, our rig is not optimized to handle many larger pet grooming blades, and certainly not heavy duty livestock shearing blades. For those needs, we recommend contacting a certified Oster, Andis, Wahl, or other name brand service center.

  • Dental scalers – $4-$6 depending on type and condition, with the majority being $4

  • Dental curettes - $8-$16 depending on type and condition, with the majority being $8-$10

  • Drill bits (surgical only) - $4-$8 depending on type and condition

  • Orthopedic instruments - $6-$16 apiece depending on type and condition, with the vast majority being $6-$10 apiece

  • Orthodontic instruments - $6-$16 apiece depending on type and condition, with the vast majority being $6-$12 apiece

  • Osteotomes – $8-$12 for most. L-shaped or other specialty: $10-$25

  • Precision and specialty surgical scissors - $8-$16 apiece depending on type and condition, with the vast majority being $10-$12 apiece

  • Surgical guillotines - $50

  • Trocar sets - $12 - $16, depending on type and condition, with most being $12.

  • Various other  handheld surgical - $8-$18, depending on type and condition

A note on questionable items:

Surgical instrument sharpening is extraordinarily delicate work, and we understand that it’s not always clear when gathering instruments whether they can or should be sharpened. We make that part easy: it is the policy of The Sharpist that any surgical instruments that cannot be sharpened will be returned free of charge. For this reason, it does not hurt to include even questionable instruments with your order.

We also provide, on request, a service summary after your surgical sharpening order is complete, including 100X magnified before and after photos of representative examples of your sharpened surgical instruments, both to demonstrate our work and for educational purposes.

Thanks for taking time to

become acquainted with

The Sharpist's surgical instrument sharpening service!

Read on for a friendly letter from Devin James Fry, owner of The Sharpist.

To the hardworking medical professionals visiting this page,

Devin here from The Sharpist. Thank you for your interest in our surgical sharpening service.

I am keenly aware of the trust that folks like you place in The Sharpist. Knowing that our work eases patients' recovery, in the case of surgical facilities, and speeds the advance of medical knowledge, in the case of our laboratory sharpening clients, is enormously humbling.  These thoughts motivate our work at the sharpening bench every day. The Sharpist is here to serve and enable the healers and discoverers of this world.

I know that many dynamics are at play in the decision to use a service like ours.  But if you're reading this, you've already overcome the greatest hurdle: inertia.  You've noticed your surgical instruments aren't performing as well as they should, and you're researching surgical sharpening options.  Getting informed about the process of surgical sharpening is a great first step to getting your instruments back into proper working order.

All instruments become dull with use.  Many medical and research facilities either suffer with dull surgical instruments or dispose of worn medical equipment rather than seeking a medical instrument sharpening service.  Whether your facility has been suffering with dull surgical instruments due to the aforementioned inertia or to the all-too-common fear that sharpening will be overly complicated or expensive, I'd like to set your mind at ease.  We here at The Sharpist affirm that most surgical instruments can be sharpened and returned to service quickly and for a fraction the cost of replacing worn instruments with new.

Whether you have simple worn bandage scissors, dull dental elevators and worn scalers, or a more niche need like gynecological biopsy forceps sharpening, spinal osteotome sharpening, plastic surgery or reconstructive surgery instrument sharpening, you can feel confident that you will be in the hands of a thoughtful and competent master sharpener when you contact The Sharpist.

Our surgical sharpening work, which can clearly be seen in our medical sharpening gallery, speaks for itself.  But testimony from our lovely customers speaks as well! Our customers rave about the difference our sharpening work makes to their surgical tasks.

Our precision surgical instrument sharpening equipment and more than 14 years of experience in the field of medical instrument sharpening means that we here at The Sharpist are well versed in all aspects of medical sharpening and will be able to sensitively and competently handle your surgical instrument sharpening needs.

The next step will be to gather your sharpening order.  We take the guesswork out of that as well.  It is the policy of The Sharpist that any instrument that cannot be sharpened will be returned free of charge -- so there's no risk in sending along even questionable items.

We take seriously our commitment to meticulous service. This includes surgical instrument sharpening, medical instrument sharpening, and even niche needs like gynecological instrument sharpening, dental instrument sharpening, biopsy forceps sharpening, and even sharpening of surgical guillotines of the sort used in research labs.

Ours is fascinating and delicate work, and we take pride in our ability to complete your medical instrument sharpening order promptly and accurately.

You've done all the reading.  Now it's time to act.  Contact The Sharpist today to start the process of returning your dull surgical instruments to proper working order.

We are waiting for you at 720-277-9071 and surgical@thesharpist.com.

Sincerely,

Devin James Fry
