About Me

I learned the basics of sharpening as a teenager in Cañon City, Colorado.  After graduating from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, I spent eleven years in Austin, Texas playing music by night and, between stints wrangling and humanely relocating bees, refining my sharpening skills by day.  Austin is where, in 2009, I first went into business as a sharpener.  Over time, I gained the trust of Austin clients.  I moved to Denver in 2020.

In addition to my work as a sharpener, I'm also a hardware musician and singer/songwriter for the working class techno band CURSING, which transmitted its debut mixtape in fall 2025. Prior to that, I released a solo record called Retrellion in April 2023.

Previously, I sang for a band called Name Sayers which released a full-length record called Joyboys In The Grindhouse in 2023.  Earlier in my musical career, several years of collaboration with Palestinian oud master Sari Andoni yielded an album called Radicans. Name Sayers and Radicans can be found on the streaming services.

I believe in embracing and empowering unalienated labor, and take pride in my dual labors of sharpening and music. I am an active member of the Denver chapter of the Industrial Workers of the World, and an at-large member of the United Musicians and Allied Workers.

As The Sharpist, my goal is to support myself, my family, and my fellow workers ethically, provide the best possible service to my customers, and always bring my best judgment to the work bench.  In both sharpening and music, successful projects begin with a foundation of trust.

I am grateful to be making music while serving customers in Denver and across the US, and am committed to delivering the highest quality work I'm able.
